Prepared Meals
People that identify as food insecure many times don’t have the time or resources to cook a healthy meal for their families. Sometimes to make ends meet people have to work multiple jobs, or are just barely making ends meet and don’t know how to shop affordably, or don’t have the kitchen tools or equipment to put together a healthy meal all of their family will eat. For this reason we also run a prepared meal program to help families in need.
We take some of the healthier food we rescue and bring it back to a commercial kitchen and along with our volunteer chef we turn those ingredients into nutritious family size meals.
When we have consistent rescues of prepared foods, we repackage and cook meals during the week, then deliver our meals to pre-identified families at our nonprofit partners.
Mobile Markets
Mobile Markets bring rescued food directly to food-insecure neighborhoods, operating on a posted schedule similar to a food truck. This approach provides the opportunity for individuals to select the food they need, creating a dignified, choice-based experience while eliminating barriers to accessing nutritious food. We will be able to reach more people, and provide support to areas that are classified as “food deserts”, which are areas that have limited access to food that is plentiful, affordable, or nutritious.
